Prizes
Sustainability Victoria offers subsidies for travel and for casual relief staff so that our finalist schools can attend the ResourceSmart Schools Awards as cost-neutral as possible. Winners receive cash prizes for sustainability projects at their school.
Attendees
This premier event is by invitation only, with all finalists, event sponsors, 5-Star Schools, delivery partners (CERES, Environment Education Victoria, and Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning), and government, state ministers and industry leaders in sustainability. The event will also be livestreamed.

The 2024 theme is Legendary legacies - what will you leave behind?
The ResourceSmart Schools Awards are turning 15 in 2024 – so let’s celebrate by looking back at all the legendary legacies we've created together to leave behind a more sustainable future.
You are achieving great things!
Since 2008, more than 1,600 schools have participated in the program. Together, they have:
- saved more than $45 million on bills
- planted 5.3 million trees
- saved more than 110,000 tonnes CO2e greenhouse gas emissions
- diverted 155,000 cubic metres of waste from landfill
- saved 1.6 million kilolitres of water.
Don’t miss this important opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the little and big wins that you and your school community have achieved over the last year.

The awards celebrate all steps towards a sustainable future – no action is too small. Schools and individuals achieving great things are invited to nominate in the following award categories:
