Victoria’s dynamic waste and resource recovery sector is full of opportunities for investment. Victoria generates substantial waste streams that can be reprocessed back into their raw materials for remanufacturing, or increasingly they are turned into new commercially viable products. Developing ‘end markets’ continues to be a priority for government, supported by SV’s programs targeting dedicated investment in R&D and Commercialisation pathways for products made from recovered materials.

Victoria’s Big build is further supporting this sector through the Recycled First policy.

Victoria’s waste streams can be broadly split into 3 main categories:

  • Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), also known as kerbside waste - includes waste from households and councils.
