Recycling Modernisation Fund Plastics Technology Stream
Recycling Modernisation Fund Plastics Technology Stream
Through the Recycling Modernisation Fund (RMF) Plastics Technology stream, the Australian Government is investing $60 million nationally over 4 years to address critical gaps in Australia’s recycling infrastructure.
The stream supports advanced and innovative technologies targeting hard-to-recycle plastics which are plastics in waste streams where there are:
- very low recovery and recycling rates due to difficulties in recycling
- limited infrastructure and technology solutions to support circularity in the supply chain.
The Australian Government awarded a total of $10.4 million to 2 Victorian infrastructure projects where more than 11,000 tonnes of soft plastic products, like shopping bags, chip packets and pallet wrap, will be able to be remade into new plastic packaging. The projects will deliver 22 ongoing and 17 construction jobs and will help boost soft plastics recycling rates in Australia and reduce soft plastics in landfill.
These projects are funded by the Australian Government and delivered by Sustainability Victoria.
