In its response to the Silver Review, the government has determined that Sustainability Victoria and its functions will be abolished in 2026.
ResourceSmart Schools is a free, award-winning Victorian Government program. It helps schools embed sustainability across facilities, curriculum and community – while using less resources and saving money.
The program is flexible and adapts to your school’s goals, priorities and capacity.
The program is self-paced. Expert facilitators are available to support you when you need them. They can even visit your school and conduct learning activities or help you get projects, such as a new worm farm or recycling system, off the ground.
All participating schools get access to ResourceSmart Schools Online. This easy-to-use portal provides tools, curriculum activities, guidance and practical actions to help embed sustainability into everyday school life.
You choose how deeply to engage with the ResourceSmart Schools program.
Even with a basic level of participation, schools benefit from high‑quality professional learning, practical resources, and links to a statewide network of Victorian schools committed to sustainability.
