Celebrating 20 years

From the CEO
Over the last 20 years, SV has evolved with you.
For two decades, we’ve led the way on the transformation needed to cut waste and emissions, building the foundation for us to move to a sustainable circular economy.
We’ve done it by showing what can happen when we bring government policy to life, supporting Victorians to take real action on the ground in communities, businesses and homes across the state.
As we look to the future, we’re tapping into the trends, knowledge and innovations shaping the global sustainability conversation.
And, we’ve investing in you: the people, partners, projects and big ideas that will get Victoria to net-zero emissions by 2045.
Thank you. Together, we’ve reimagined what’s possible, proven that sustainability works, and built the confidence needed for big change to happen.

Chief Executive Officer | Sustainability Victoria

Waste we’ve diverted
We’ve diverted enough waste from landfill to fill more than 36,000 Melbourne E-Class trams or 3,700 Olympic swimming pools.

Emissions we’ve cut
We’ve directly abated emissions through our programs equivalent to almost 1.3 million Victorian homes' energy use for one year – or almost 160 million tree seedlings grown for 10 years.
Our highlights
Our timeline highlights SV at the forefront of sustainability over the past two decades. We’ve put sustainability on the agenda, shaping Victoria’s social, economic, political and environmental development. See how we’ve brought sustainability to the mainstream through blockbuster behaviour change campaigns and incentives for households, while shaping Victoria's waste and renewable energy sectors.

Funding we’ve awarded
On behalf of the Victorian Government we have invested in Victoria's first movers and big ideas with grants for community organisations, businesses, educational institutions, industry and local government.

Investment we’ve secured
We’ve leveraged more than half a billion dollars in additional private sector and government investment, on top of $250 million in Victorian Government funding we’ve administered.
