Claire Ferres Miles – Chief Executive Officer

'All Victorians are seeking advice and action to reduce their energy use, recycle more, and respond to the challenges of our changing climate. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure Victoria’s future is one of social, economic and environmental prosperity.'

Claire was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sustainability Victoria in November 2019, previously City of Melbourne’s Director City Strategy and Place.

Claire is an optimistic leader driven by curiosity and purpose. She has held executive roles in Transport for London, Victorian Government, Local Government and in the private sector, and is highly regarded for her collaborative leadership, authentic community engagement and innovative partnerships. Claire has been recognised as an IPAA Victorian Fellow (2019) and a ‘Top 50 Woman in the Victorian Public Sector’ (2017).

Claire is passionate about leading teams to achieve public value and positive impact, and deliver tangible outcomes for our community, with significant achievements in affordable housing, sustainability, transport and planning – to ensure our future is one of social, economic and environmental prosperity.

She has a Master of Transport, a Master of Traffic, a Bachelor of Planning & Design with majors in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and IPAA Integrity and Ethical Leadership Program.

Alicia Darvall – Director Regions and Partnerships

Alicia is an innovative leader focused on building collaborative partnerships; bridging cultures, sectors and worldviews. She values courage, honesty and compassion and attempts to live by those values.

Prior to joining SV, Alicia worked for B Lab, a nonprofit whose initiatives include the B Corp Certification, businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance. She was the Director of Global Partners, responsible for the expansion of B Corporations around the world.

From 2017 until 2020 she was the Chair of Melbourne Metropolitan Development Advisory Panel and Chair of the Inner South East Partnership – Metropolitan Partnership.

Kate Dundas – Director Strategic Foresight and Research

Kate is a creative leader, designer and strategist who is passionate about bringing diverse groups of people together to make sense of complex problems. Experience across the public and private sectors in strategic planning, sustainability, urban design and business development allows her to draw upon a mix of tools, methods and networks to deliver results.

Kate co-founded 3000acres – a project aiming to get more people growing more food in more places – and 5up5down, a project to tackle social isolation. Kate also co-hosted Greening the Apocalypse on 3RRR for four years.

Matt Genever – Chief Operating Officer

Matt is driven by the potential for the world to make positive change. He has spent some 20 years working in the sustainability sector, with a particular bent for delivering a best practice waste and recycling sector that brings true circularity to our material usage.

Matt has spent time in consulting, the not-for-profit sector and more than eight years with SV.

Paul Murfitt – Director Industry and Infrastructure

Paul has worked in the sustainability field for more than 25 years. He comes to Sustainability Victoria from DELWP, where he has been leading workstreams on policy and programs addressing energy sustainability, affordability, reliability and security since 2016. Paul was CEO of the Moreland Energy Foundation Limited for over eight years and also worked for 10 years with Sustainability Victoria (mainly with predecessor organisations).

Paul also delivers a subject at RMIT University in the Masters of Renewable Energy Engineering program – The social, environmental and economic context of sustainable energy. Paul is excited to be at SV to work with the Victorian community to achieve zero net carbon emissions and build a circular economy.

Katie Pahlow – Director Community Action

Katie is passionate about inspiring and empowering collective action to create a positive future for people and the natural world. Before coming to Sustainability Victoria, Katie led Zoos Victoria’s transformation to a world leader in community action, behaviour change and education, including overseeing development of a five-year Community Action Masterplan and award-winning behaviour change campaigns.

Katie has a strong interest in human rights issues and worked with the Governor of Victoria to create the Peace & Prosperity Kitchen Garden Program for refugee and migrant women. Since arriving at SV, Katie has focused on building SV’s ability to inspire action and deliver measurable impact to create a sustainable future.

Marnie Williams – Chief People Officer

Marnie is passionate about building high performing teams and thriving organisations where people love what they do and aspire to achieve great things together. As a leader, Marnie values integrity, collaboration, innovation, learning and courage, and is excited to be at Sustainability Victoria during this significant period of growth, investment and change.

Marnie has successfully led a range of major organisational change and transformation programs, predominantly within Local Government, and brings over 20 years’ experience spanning Government, risk and insurance, education and information technology sectors. Her skill-sets include strategic leadership, organisational design, complex change, people and performance, and human resource management.

Dionne Eagleson – Manager, Office of the CEO

Dionne is passionate about working with people and organisations to achieve strong outcomes for the Victorian community. She believes an effective public service delivers sound policy, which helps make Victoria a great state.

Over the past 15 years, she has held a range of roles largely in the environment portfolio. These have given her valuable insights in the workings of government from roles as a ministerial adviser through to acting chief of staff.

Her work includes: renewing the Victorian Landcare Program and the environmental response to the 2019/20 bushfires; resolving longstanding challenges for Government, including the plan to permanently end native timber harvesting and landmark additions to Victoria’s National Parks.

Dionne has an Executive Masters in Public Administration and bachelor degrees in Public Policy and Management (Honours) and Arts (majoring in Political Science and English).
