B-Alternative helps event managers host low-waste festivals and events through planet-positive waste solutions. Their reusable model provides events with reusable cutlery, crockery and glassware.

What’s involved for the business?

B-Alternative will liaise with food and beverage vendors prior to their event to supply reusable food ware. They provide the staff and trolleys to distribute, collect, clean and return the cutlery, crockery and glassware to vendors for reuse. B-Alternative provides a post-event summary so businesses can understand the impact of their low-waste initiative.

What’s the change for the customer?

Customers wear a wristband to access reusable cutlery, crockery and glassware to enjoy food and drinks. The utensils are then washed, sanitised and returned for reuse.

The impact

B-Alternative diverted 95% of waste from landfill at the Queenscliff Music Festival in 2019, saved 4 tonnes of packaging at the National Celtic Festival in 2019, and reduced waste-to-landfill down to one 10L bucket at the Summer Mild Festival in 2021.
