Albury Wodonga Multicultural Community Events is a finalist for a Community Champion award in the Premier's Sustainability Awards – Social and economic justice category. Emergency 'Food Relief Packages' distribution project 2020
In the COVID-19 pandemic, the Albury Wodonga Multicultural Community Events (AWMCE) team provided emergency 'Food Relief Packages'. These basic food packages were culturally appropriate and distributed to members of multicultural communities that were negatively impacted by the pandemic.
With the help of more than 25 volunteers, AWMCE successfully distributed 'Food Relief Packages’ to more than 300 individuals and families. AWMCE also hosted online and in-person meetings to support the mental health and well-being of these communities.
