The Buy Circular Service has concluded

The Buy Circular Service concluded on 30 April 2026, as part of Sustainability Victoria’s wind‑down. 

Resources in this section will remain available until 30 June. We encourage councils, champions and suppliers to download and save any key tools/resources.

The program helped accelerate circular procurement across councils in Victoria and supported councils to learn from each other. We sincerely thank council partners, champions, long‑term advocates, and key suppliers who contributed to the program’s outcomes.

Latrobe City Council trials recycled glass in road resurfacing program
Locally sourced and processed recycled glass supports the council’s push to develop a circular economy.
Utilising waste rubber tyres in permeable pavement
In 2022, Yarra City Council and the University of Melbourne constructed an innovative permeable pavement made with recycled rubber to create a strong and resilient surface that allows water to pass through, reducing stormwater runoff and pollution in waterways.
Stribling Reserve Pavilion upgrade showcases recycled plastic decking and seating
Surf Coast Shire Council installed recycled composite decking and seating at the Stribling Reserve Pavilion in Lorne as part of a major redevelopment.
Recycled fencing closes the loop on the Twelve Apostles Trail
Corangamite Shire Council installed recycled plastic post and rail fencing, bollards and end-assemblies along the 20 km shared walking and cycling path between Timboon and Port Campbell.
Recycled glass road surface treatment in Lilydale and Belgrave
Yarra Ranges Council installed recycled glass surface treatments on 2 roads, eliminating the need for traditional surface paint and improving safety and accessibility.
Great Valley Trail asphalt surfaced using recycled materials
Alpine Shire Council surfaced the 16km Great Valley Trail with an asphalt containing 15% recycled rubber and glass.
Road base rehabilitation using foam bitumen asphalt
The City of Whittlesea used a foam bitumen asphalt base course made from 95.3% of recycled materials to rehabilitate an area of failed pavement within Yale Drive, Epping.
Hockey field redevelopment using recycled aggregate
Darebin Council undertook a significant restoration and upgrade of its KP Hardiman Hockey Field using recycled products and materials.
New fence at Arch Brown Reserve using Replas recycled plastic pickets
Casey City Council installed Replas recycled plastic pickets at the Arch Brown Reserve in Berwick, which is home to some of Casey's largest cricket, junior football, and tennis clubs.
