Last updated: 4 August 2022

Sustainability Victoria has partnered with Design Matters National, Housing Industry Association (HIA) and Master Builders Association Victoria (MBAV) to deliver free 6-to-7-star design training sessions to builders, building designers and energy assessors.

These sessions offer practical tips for designing an affordable energy efficient home with a whole-of-home approach.

Training outcomes

The 6-to-7-star Design training will provide information on how to design an affordable energy-efficient home, with a whole-of-home approach, including:

  • the bigger picture – Zero net carbon economy by 2050 and the trajectory for low energy buildings
  • the costs and benefits of building a 7-star home with a whole-of-home assessment
  • passive solar design principles and the importance of orientation
  • thermal bridges and how to avoid them in designs
  • glazing types, costs, and benefits
  • energy efficiency ratings for appliances, what they mean and the benefits and costs.

Who should attend?

These sessions are appropriate for building designers, energy assessors and builders who work closely with homeowners and their designers throughout the design and construction process.

CPD points are available for attendance at this training.

Everyone is welcome. Membership with HIA or MBAV is not required to attend.
