Waste not, want not

The average Victorian household throws away $2,136 a year in wasted food, and Christmas celebrations can be a major contributor to this cost.

This year, plan ahead and make a list before you head to the shops so you’re not tempted to over-buy.

Check what food you already have before you shop and try to eat the food in your freezer in the lead up to Christmas to maximise your space for festive leftovers.

Store your lovely leftovers correctly and give your future self the gift of meals like sandwiches, soups, casseroles and more.

And be sure to send your guests home with a container of leftovers. Don’t take no for an answer!
