The Sustainability Victoria Board held its first in-person meeting of the year and welcomed Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, who attended the first part of the meeting. This meeting was also the first meeting of SV’s Interim-CEO, Matt Genever, and Matt was welcomed to the role by the Board. The discussions and outcomes are summarised below.

Minister D’Ambrosio’s attendance at the meeting provided the Board and SV’s Executive Leadership Team the opportunity to present a range of Strategic Opportunities that could be implemented by the Victorian Government to further its commitment to a circular economy and a safe climate.

The Board received progress reports on several of SV’s programs currently being delivered and reviewed a market update on the priority materials for consideration under the Recycling Victoria funded Market Acceleration Package.

The Board noted the organisation’s involvement in a series of public events as part of Melbourne Fashion Festival and Melbourne Design week which have showcased sustainable design and circular economy opportunities.

The Board also farewelled Peter Castellas as a longstanding Board member and Chair of the Performance and Culture Committee. Mr Castellas was a Board member since July 2017 and brought a wealth of knowledge and valuable contributions to the Board. The Board extended their appreciation to Peter for his service and wished him well in his future endeavours.
