Frequently asked questions

Why is the program called TAKE2?

In 2015, 195 nations, including Australia, met in Paris for the United Nations Climate Change Conference and committed to keeping the global temperature rise under two degrees. TAKE2 refers to that two-degree target

Who can join TAKE2?

Anyone living in Victoria can join TAKE2, as can any organisation with a base here, including business, local government, educational institution or community service group.

It is mandatory for all Victorian Government departments to make a TAKE2 pledge and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

I/we are already signed up to other climate change and environmental sustainability programs. Should we pledge to TAKE2 or not?

Absolutely! The TAKE2 program is all about inspiring others to act on climate change, and if you’re part of other programs then you’re already setting a great example. Hopefully TAKE2 members will follow your lead and consider signing up to other programs as well.

Understanding what other climate change activities or programs you’re involved with also helps us get a more accurate picture of how Victoria is progressing towards its 2050 net zero emissions target.

How many actions do I need to choose?

You can select as many climate change actions as you like. Even starting with one is great. Most pledgers will select more.

If you’ve never considered how to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions, start off with something simple and achievable, then gradually build up to some of the bigger actions .

What’s the best action to take?

It depends a bit on your situation and whether you’re an individual or an organisation, but if you are going to twist our arms, then one of the simpler, but bigger impact things you can do is to switch to renewable energy through your electricity provider.

Do I need to choose actions from every category?

You can choose actions from all, a few or just one. Have a browse through all of them and see what inspires you or your organisation to get started.

Why can’t I select a date to complete my actions after 30 June 2020?

The Victorian Government has set five-yearly interim emissions targets to help us along our way to the zero net emissions goal for 2050. This first interim target will be set for 30 June 2020.

If you have a major action that you believe you won’t be completed until after that date, consider setting a smaller target for before 30 June 2020, to show you’re on the way to achieving your overall goal.

How do I change my details?

Login to your account.

Go to the top of the webpage and click on your name.

A drop-down menu will appear.

Select ‘My Details’ and make any changes.

You can also select ‘Change password’ from the same drop-down menu if you want to create a new password or have forgotten your password.

What is a ‘profile page’?

For organisations pledging to TAKE2, a profile page can be created to publicly share the great work you are doing to combat climate change.

It can be used to share your pledge, the actions you’re taking, and any other programs you’re involved with. You can also update the page with images, details of climate change events, or other climate change stories.

Publishing a profile page is a great way for organisations to get the recognition they deserve for acting on climate change. It can inspire others to follow your lead.

How do I create my profile page?

Once you have made the TAKE2 pledge, you will receive an email from us, with the subject line ‘How to set up your TAKE2 account’. Open the email and click on the link to set up your profile page.

We’re happy to resend the email if you need.
