Green skies ahead for Qantas

Airport and planes

Like vegemite and Holden, Qantas is an iconic Aussie brand, familiar to generations. As such, it has an enormous opportunity to influence its customers, staff, shareholders and suppliers to take action on climate change.

This TAKE2 Founding Partner is already working toward reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, through Qantas Future Planet, its flagship program for sustainability. It’s also improving the fuel efficiency of its fleet and running the world’s largest airline offset program.

As a domestic and international airline, Qantas is a major fuel user. But it has set itself targets that will help Victoria reach net zero emissions by 2050.

By 2020, the flying kangaroo will improve fuel efficiency by 1.5% a year. It aims to achieve carbon neutral growth at the same time. And by 2050, plans to have cut its overall emissions by half, compared to 2005 levels.

Qantas understands that the cost of inaction outweighs the cost of action. That applies to all of us – organisations and individuals. So, maybe it’s time you signed up to TAKE2.
