Detox your Home - permanent sites
Paint, motor oil, all types of batteries, BBQ gas cylinders and fluorescent tubes can be dropped off year round at one of the permanent sites located across Victoria. These locations are listed below.

City of Casey Transfer and Recycling Centre On 12 January 2012 the City of Casey closed the Cranbourne transfer station including their Detox your Home site. The transfer station closure is part of the redevelopment of the Cranbourne precinct, accommodating residential growth and addressing community concerns. Sustainability Victoria and the City of Casey are investigating future options. In the meantime please use your closest Detox your Home site, for example Monash or Mornington, to responsibly dispose of selected household chemicals. |

Items accepted by permanent collection facilities
Permanent facilities only accept a limited range of household chemicals products, such as:
- paint
- motor oil
- car batteries
- household batteries
- fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent globes (CFLs)
- BBQ gas cylinders up to 9 kg (check with facility).
You can take as many of these products as you need to, however these sites do NOT accept:
- containers larger than 20 litres
- LPG gas automotive fuel tanks
- chemicals used for commercial and industrial purposes
- household chemicals not listed above.
Before travelling to a permanent site please contact the operator (see list above) to confirm
- the range of chemical products accepted
- any limits on the amount of chemicals you can drop without charge
- opening days and times.
Businesses of any sort are ineligible to use the service and should instead contact a chemical waste disposal service provider (download list below or look in the Yellow Pages).
