Funding for recycling and recovery of Victoria's commercial and industrial and municipal solid waste
$11.5 million to boost Victoria's recycling and resource recovery
Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Hon Ryan Smith MP has announced an $11.5 million funding package to improve recycling infrastructure across the state.
This funding is in addition to the $13.8 million of funding already announced this year as part of the Government's 'Conserve, Invest and Save' strategy.
The package will be delivered through two programs: the Driving Investment in New Recycling (DINR) and the Resource Recovery Infrastructure (RRI) programs. The programs target the establishment of new and/or upgrades to existing infrastructure for the recovery of commercial and industrial (C&I) and municipal solid waste (MSW) material.
Funding of $3 million will be available for Driving Investment for New Recycling in 2013-2015 for significant projects (recover more than 5,000 tonnes per annum) that can be completed within two years.
The Resource Recovery Infrastructure fund will invest $6.5 million in large scale projects that will recover more than 100,000 tonnes of materials from landfill per annum.
An EOI process for these funds opened in late July 2012.
