Triple Bottom Line Capacity Building
Sustainability Victoria is partnering with ICLEI Oceania to build the capacity for local governments to deliver economic, social and environmental outcomes.
Triple Bottom Line Capacity Building Program
Sustainability Victoria is providing financial and material support for ICLEI Oceania's Triple Bottom Line (TBL) Capacity Building Program.
The key objectives of the TBL program are to:
- Build the capacity of local council in the sustainability arena through expertise, support, networking and knowledge sharing
- Develop new TBL tools for use and application in local councils
- Investigate and research leading practice in sustainability and apply this to local councils
- Facilitate partnerships and affiliations to enable the development and delivery of leading sustainability practices to local councils
The program consists of eleven core modules, working with participating councils to: undertake a sustainability review and gap analysis; develop TBL principles, objectives, targets and indicators; establish data management processes; identify training needs; and develop and implement monitoring and review processes.
In the 'leadership' phase (2 years), four Victorian local governments will participate in the program, along with ten other councils from across Australia.
Three local governments have been recruited in Victoria: the City of Melbourne, Surf Coast Shire Council and Knox City Council.
