Choosing mulches and composts made from recycled garden materials can decrease water usage, reduce weed infestation as well as improve soil fertility. Garden Organics products, are specially made composts, mulches and soil conditioners, created from the careful recycling of everyday garden materials, such as branches, leaves and flowers.
Field trials conducted by the Institute of Horticultural Development have shown that composts made from recycled green waste can minimise water lost through evaporation and run off, reduce weed infestation as well as improve soil fertility. Some field trials have demonstrated up to 20% decrease in water usage, which means substantial cost saving while being environmentally responsible.
To be eligible to use the Garden Organics brand, products must be carefully processed using the best practice technology, have minimum of 30% recycled content and be accredited to Australian Standards:
- AS 4454: For composts, soil conditioners and mulches
- AS3743: For potting mixes
- AS 4419: Soils for landscaping and garden use.
These standards mean that you can be confident that Garden Organics composts, mulches and soil conditioners are free of weeds, seeds and diseases.
Look for the Green Organics logo when purchasing composts, mulches and soil conditioners.
