FirstRate Software Updates
The latest software updates for FirstRate5 are listed below.
To update your software, please download and install the new version (5.0.226).
If you are experiencing any problems with the new version, please reinstall your software and update with the previous version (5.0.215).
New version - software update 5.0.226
Some minor bugs found in software update 5.0.224 have been fixed in this release.
Features
- Undo button - to undo multiple changes by holding down Ctrl Z.
- New wall modelling - single internal wall modelling and dynamically 'break & heal' feature
- Compass arrow - to show north visually
- Zone Energy reporting capability - to help you determine 'problem' areas
- Roof windows - as an alternative to skylights
Fixes
- Window data correctly displayed in the windows tab
- Improved zooming performance on the plan screen
- Report printouts have a larger font in most cases
- Phantom doors have disappeared
- Optimise function has been improved
- The data report appears for all ratings after calculation

Installation
- Download the file to your computer.
- Unzip it and then run FR5_patch_50v226.exe (eg double click).
- Follow the prompts
- This patch will update the original FirstRate5 release
- FirstRate5 must be closed when running the patch

Previous version - software update 5.0.215
If you are having difficulties using the new version (5.0.226), please reinstall your software and update with version 5.0.215.
Please note: you only need to use the new version to update your program.
Feature & fixes in this update:
- Moved calculation process out of "c:\program files". This helps with Vista compatibility.
- Sped up network file saves
- Fixed ventilation item entry on plan view (eg chimneys)
- Changed name of "base height" of walls to "split wall base height"
- Added extra warnings eg if all walls in zone have non-zero base height
- General calculation improvements
- Resolved issue with files scores changing with each calculate
- Resolved rare cases where cooling energy level was unreasonably high
- Resolved issue with "Connects To" field in Zoning screen
- Resolved issue with internal openings in Added walls
