Our programs
The Victorian Government is dedicated to reducing the cost of living, enhancing the productivity of our state and gaining the best value out of its investments. Sustainability Victoria supports these outcomes through programs to help Victorians use resources more efficiently.
SV implements government policies and initiatives by delivering targeted programs with a measurable impact in integrated waste management and resource efficiency (energy and materials).
SV's aim is to provide statewide leadership in waste management. We lead and coordinate the implementation of the 2005 Sustainability in Action: Towards Zero Waste Strategy (TZW), and work closely with the waste industry, others within the environment portfolio and local government to reduce waste and increase resource recovery.
Our three year waste outcomes include increased recovery of resources, arrested/reduced growth in waste generated and reduced littering.
We will also work to improve materials and energy efficiency in selected sectors to help achieve the Victorian Government's policy objectives of reducing the pressures on the cost of living and the cost of doing business; ensuring secure, reliable energy supply and distribution; and reducing environmental harm from emissions.
