Best practice at resource recovery centres/transfer stations
Victoria has more than 300 resource recovery centres/transfer stations that are an integral part of the waste management system. Sustainability Victoria’s best practice guidance provides information on why and how resource recovery centres/transfer stations can progress towards best practice.
Best practice guidance is critical to the operation of resource recovery centres, helping to divert materials from landfill and ensure the safe management and handling of recovered materials and residual waste.
These guidance materials aim to promote and inform continuous improvement at resource recovery centres, as well as provide information about minimum standards.
Funding has been provided to 22 rural and regional councils to upgrade infrastructure at 30 transfer stations and resource recovery centres across Victoria.
