Sustainability Victoria works with the waste and resource recovery groups on their regional waste and resource recovery implementation plans.
The purpose of the seven regional implementation plans is to identify local waste infrastructure needs and how these will be met over the next 10 years for each region.
Once these plans are developed they will be used to update the 30 year state waste plan by incorporating the regional priorities and information captured by the regional implementation plans.
Each of the regional implementation plans will provide an understanding of their region’s current waste infrastructure, environmental and financial performance, projected waste volumes, urban growth and industry demands. This is to ensure each region has an appropriate plan for their projected waste volume.
Metropolitan Implementation Plan
The Metropolitan regional implementation plan was released on 12 October 2016. To find out more about the plan go to www.mwrrg.vic.gov.au.
Regional (non-metro) plans
Consultation on the Groups’ draft regional implementation plans is complete and the final plans will be released in early 2017. Thank you to all stakeholders that provided feedback.
If you have any questions about a particular regional implementation plan contact a waste and resource recovery group directly.
The regional implementation plans must include an infrastructure schedule for both resource recovery and landfill infrastructure.
Sustainability Victoria, with the waste and resource recovery Victorian Government portfolio agencies, developed a process for Groups to develop their schedule. This includes the scheduling process for new landfill, if required.
