Terms and Conditions

 

  1. The Challenge will commence at 9am on Tuesday 17 April 2018 and close at 5pm on Friday 29 March 2019 (“Closing Date”).
  2. The Challenge is open to all primary and secondary schools in Victoria.
  3. To be eligible your school must be registered for the ResourceSmart Schools Program on the ResourceSmart Schools website and elect to opt in to participate in the Challenge.
  4. Information on the ResourceSmart Schools Program and how to register can be found at www.sustainability.vic.gov.au/energychampions
  5. By participating in the Challenge you agree to these terms and conditions and the Website Terms of Use.
  6. To win, you must enter the following electricity consumption data on the ResourceSmart Schools website:
    • your school’s electricity consumption (kwh) data for each month of 2017 (i.e. from Jan 2017 to Dec 2017, a “calendar year”). This is to be entered in the Billing section of ResourceSmart Schools website;
    • your school’s electricity consumption (kwh) data for 2018 calendar year. This is to be entered in the Billing section of ResourceSmart Schools website; and
    • student numbers data for 2017 and 2018 calendar years. This is to be entered in the Annual Schools Bills Data section of ResourceSmart Schools website).
  7. All relevant data required to be submitted must be submitted to the ResourceSmart Schools website by 5pm on the Closing Date.
  8. The Challenge has two categories with 18 prizes to the total value of $26,000.
  9. The categories are:
    • Category 1: The lowest per student electricity consumption for one school in each of the nine regions; Loddon Mallee, Gippsland, Grampians, Hume, Barwon South West, Western Metropolitan, Northern Metropolitan, Southern Metropolitan and Eastern Metropolitan; includes an overall Victorian winner. This category has nine prizes at a value of $13,000:
      • One overall winner will receive a $5,000 prize
      • Eight regional winners will receive a $1,000 prize.
    • Category 2: The greatest percentage reduction in overall electricity consumption for one school in each of the nine regions; Loddon Mallee, Gippsland, Grampians, Hume, Barwon South West, Western Metropolitan, Northern Metropolitan, Southern Metropolitan and Eastern Metropolitan; includes an overall Victorian winner. This category has nine prizes at a value of $13,000:
      • One overall winner will receive a $5,000 prize
      • Eight regional winners will receive a $1,000 prize.
  10. The Challenge period is 2017 and 2018 calendar years.
  11. We may verify all entries and we, or our delivery partner, may ask you to provide copies of your electricity bills for the purposes of verification.
  12. You may be disqualified from the Challenge if any data is missing or entered incorrectly.
  13. We reserve the right to disqualify any participating school if it is found to have tampered with the entry process, fails to comply with these terms and conditions or otherwise jeopardises the fair and proper conduct of this Challenge.
  14. Winners will be notified by phone and will be publicly announced in May 2019.
  15. Our decision will be final and no correspondence entered into.
  16. We may alter these terms and conditions at any time by notice to participants.
  17. We may terminate the Challenge at any time and for any reason.
  18. We will not be liable for any loss suffered arising out of the Challenge.
